Here in Lisle, visitors can find intriguing local offerings without leaving town. But we also understand the value of our ideal location. Our close proximity to all of Chicagoland’s attractions, combined with a minimum of big-city headaches, makes Lisle more than a great place for conventions and trade shows. This village we live in is also a fun place to visit! Tourism promotion is another way the Lisle Convention & Visitors Bureau enhances our community.

HOW DOES BRINGING IN TOURIST AND OTHER LEISURE TRAVELERS HELP LISLE?

The LCVB hosts regular marketing meetings, where our local attractions and our local hotels work together for the benefit of both. The special discounts to The Morton Arboretum offered to hotel customers are an example. Visitors eat at our restaurants, buy gas at our gas stations, stay in our hotels and visit our attractions. Every sale brings tax dollars into Lisle, reducing the tax burden on residents.

WHAT ROI DOES THE LCVB BRING TO LISLE?

For every $1 spent by the LCVB, the Return on Investment in FY 2017-18 was $9.72. According to industry figures, leisure travelers spend about $110 per day, with business travelers spending about $136 per day. We use the conservative figure of $100 per day. In the 2017 calendar year, the LCVB produced $5.174 million in total economic impact for Lisle.

HOW DOES THE LCVB USE SOCIAL MEDIA?

Social media is a critical part of leisure promotion. By using social media, we can very directly target our ad dollars, making them go further. In the past year, we have:

  • Utilized Facebook live video, interviewing our partners
  • Published 12 blogs and 12 news releases on the website StayinLisle.com to increase awareness and improve SEO
  • Continuously worked to improve website SEO to improve our ranking on Google

We are the only entity whose focus is bringing conventions, trade shows, meetings and tourism to Lisle! Here are some of the highlights of our work from May 2017-April 2018:

  • Prepared 5,542 visitor packets and 500 name badges for conference/meeting services for 43 groups.
  • Fulfilled 127 email requests for travel information
  • Published and distributed 30,000 Lisle Visitor Guide-2017
  • Successfully achieved re-accreditation from the Destination International Program
  • Created new ad campaign for print ads – Meet in Lisle and Enjoy the Best of Chicago for Less
  • Published cooperative ad with Chicago Plus in Chicago Visitor Guide Spring/Summer 2017 Issue

The two are different but work hand-in-hand. People who visit an attraction with their family may be motivated to come again for business. People who come here for a convention may decide to return later to show their family members some of the attractions they enjoyed. We actively work to bring both kinds of visitors to Lisle. Our location, resources, and amenities make us ideal not only for conventions and trade shows but for smaller groups like business meetings and family reunions.
