The Morton Arboretum
Internationally recognized, The Morton Arboretum, a living outdoor museum with 1,700 acres of spectacular landscapes, 12 miles of trails and 11 miles of roads for driving tours. Explore the Arboretum’s magnificent displays four seasons a year.
The Cantigny Gardens & Museum
The Cantigny Gardens & Museum, a 500-acre estate of the late Colonel Robert McCormick features the First Division Museum at Cantigny that commemorates the distinguished service of the men and women who have served their nation since its inception. The 35-room mansion is filled with European antiques, paintings, rare books and Asian art McCormick collected from around the world.
Great Lakes Naval Training Station
Great Lakes Naval Training Station is located in North Chicago. Naval Station Great Lakes is the second largest military installation in Illinois and the largest training station in the Navy. The base has 1,153 buildings situated on 1,628 acres.
Great shopping is just minutes away at Downtown Naperville, Chicago Premium Outlets, Wheaton Town Square, Oak Brook Center, and Yorktown Mall. Enjoy shopping and eating in downtown Naperville along the Riverwalk following the DuPage River which features winding paths with gardens, fountains, and parks.
While there, listen to a unique musical instrument consisting of 72 bells, the Millennium Carillon one of only four Grand Carillons in the world. Enjoy carillonneurs perform during the summer concert series and climb 253 steps to the observation area to marvel at the views.
Head to downtown Chicago and Navy Pier on the interstates and local expressways or via the Chicago-area METRA commuter rail system.
Eyes To The Skies Festival
Lisle’s popular Eyes to the Skies Hot Air Balloon Festival is held yearly over the Fourth of July and celebrates the holiday with a sky of color, music, food and crafts.
Illinois Aviation Museum
The Illinois Aviation Museum is a 6000 square foot facility at Bolingbrook’s Clow International Airport where you can view the carefully restored T-2C Buckeye jet trainer aircraft and historic Nieuport 11 replica.
