"Warm hats and mittens come from warm hearts." Lisle Library will be accepting new or gently used outerwear to donate to the People's Resource Center of DuPage County. We will only accept mittens, hats, scarves, coats and boots. Drop off the winter clothing by the Circulation Desk at Lisle Library, 777 Front St., Lisle.

Lights of Lisle Festival

To prepare for Santa, Downtown Lisle glows with beautiful holiday decorations. Festivities begin when the Santa Parade brings Santa to Main Street, then on to the Museums at Station Park campus, adjacent to Village Hall. Then head on inside Village Hall to enjoy delicious holiday cookies, hot chocolate and festive holiday music. Join Mayor Broda for the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony, held at 6 pm at Village Hall. Take a trolley ride through the downtown to view thousands of luminaria that line the streets. Be sure to visit your favorite Downtown Lisle shops to continue the fun.

Once Upon a Christmas

Join us at the Museums at Lisle Station Park for old fashioned holiday fun! Children and parents can enjoy an 1800's era holiday celebration complete with period costumes, demonstrations, children's crafts, music, brick oven baking, model train displays, hay rides, black-smithing and of course, Santa. Once Upon a Christmas hours - Saturday, December 3 from 3 - 8 PM and Sunday, December 4 from 11 AM 4 PM at the Museums at Lisle Station Park.

Polar Express Santa Train

The ever-popular Polar Express Santa Train is on Sunday, December 4, 2011. The Santa Train runs from Lisle Metra Station to Chicago Union Station and back for a 75-minute ride with Santa and his helpers reminiscent of the Caldecott award-winning children's book and movie, The Polar Express. Advanced tickets are required for either the 9:45 AM or 1:45 PM rides. Tickets are $16 per person. The $16 tickets will be available at The Nook on Main Street, at Lisle Savings Bank on Maple Avenue, and at the 7 Eleven, Main Street and Ogden Avenue, all in Lisle. Tickets can be reserved in advance by sending a self addressed, stamped envelope to Polar Express, PO Box 4327, Lisle, IL 60532.

In Search of the Prairie Spirit at The Morton Arboretum
